What is your shipping policy?
Our Standard size Craftsman and Cigar Box Lamps ship for free. The only lamps we charge for currently are our Floor size or Column Lamps only because they require “Special Handling” from our couriers (either UPS or FedEx Ground) due to their size. That will be calculated at the time of your order, we do not add any fees to what our courier requires. We are willing to ship beyond the Continental US but that will be on an as needed basis. The customer will need to contact us and we will get a shipping quote for them. Of course our lamps are built to work on normal US 120 volt current so that cuts down on the possible locations they will work. Convertors are easily available for European areas but those are the responsibility of the end user and because of that we are not able to provide the full warranty for those customers.
Where do I find replacement bulbs?
We purchase our bulbs directly from our distributor but the bulbs we use are actually available on Amazon. We choose our bulbs for the color range and brightness for each type of lamp. The bulbs we recommend are:
Cigar box lamp - Edison style LED, Size A-19 (standard size E-26 base), 6 watt (60 watt incandescent equivalent) and 2700k color range (soft white/warm white). The A-19 is the shape of a common bulb but please read the note below.
Craftsman lamp - Edison style LED, Size is standard size E-26 base, 7.5 watt (60 watt incandescent equivalent) and 2700k color range (warm white).
Note: The most important thing with the Craftsman lamp bulbs is the color and brightness. Currently the only thing available that meets the criteria is the Edison style LED bulbs with glass bulbs, which of course look the best anyway. With the mica shades the bulbs are slightly visible through the mica so regular household plastic LED bulbs look unsightly. The other reason we use these Edison style bulbs is that they distribute light more evenly all around especially around the base. Regular household LED’s have a wide cover around the base that blocks the light in that direction. That is also a big problem with Cigar box lamps that need the light below the bulb to help light the box, that’s why we use the Edison style bulbs with those as well.
Is there options for the lamp shade?
Certainly. We deliver our Cigar Box lamps complete with shades (the Craftsman style lamps have the shade built on) and we only use quality American made shades. Normally we have a few different options for colors or shapes and we try to pick the best looking ones for each lamp. If you want something different, contact us and we can let you know what is available, we can even send you some pictures of how they look on your lamp. You could also opt out of the shade if you already have something you want to use and we can credit $30 back to you. Just remember, lamp shades are funny things, they always look different on every lamp. The only real way to judge is to put it on and light it up!
You have a Pattern A, B and C lamps, plans for any others?
Yes, for our Pattern Lamps we have developed a floor lamp version and recently a “Tall” version of the standard that is 26 inches tall. The Standard size is 21 inches so just going to 26 inches doesn’t seem like much but everything is scaled up in size and they are quite impressive. The “tall” offer a nice option between the Standard and Floor lamp sizes. There are some other styling directions I’m looking into, along a tropical theme. A long time ago I made a Palm tree lamp for my bar and it came out great, now I have people asking for me to expand on the idea and make a new product line around it.
On the home page, what is the photo of the trees?
That was taken with a cell phone on our property in North Carolina. We go and camp there every year and it was just an beautiful Autumn sunset. The colors were amazingly vivid and with many of the leaves that had already fallen it was a perfect view looking up through the branches.
